What do you think of this? It’s supposed to be like the MacBook’s Glass trackpad, and instead of, or in addition to, having the magic mouse you have this touch surface.

Android 2.2 (aka froyo) on your desktop.

May 23rd, 2010 yoshi No comments

Alot of you following googles I/O might have seen the new android 2.2 (aka froyo) and want to try it out or want to start to develop on it or just test apps for it so heres how to install a emulator on your desktop.
Warning: best if used on a more powerful computer (netbooks will strain)

First: Download the sdk.

  1. Extract the folder and open the “android” folder that extracted.
  2. There you’ll see a few folders open the “Tools” folder and click the “android” script to run the Emulator builder.
  3. Now in the emulator builder go to the “Available Packages” tab.
  4. There choose the packages that are selected in the picture and click “install selected”.
  5. After they finish downloading and installing go to the “Virtual Devices” tab and press “new” (on the right side).
  6. So the the input will be as follows in the picture: (size depends on how much memory you have but you can always add a SD Card)
  7. Now go back to “Virtual Devices” and click on your newly made emulator and click “Start” on the right side.

And now you have a basic emulator.

How to add applications:

  1. your going to need to download Eclipse IDE for Java Developers (you’ll need to choose the IDE for Java Developers from the list).
  2. Install the Android Development Toolkit in Eclipse.
  3. Point the ADK to the directly where you’re keeping your Android SDK files (the same place where you extracted the SDK earlier, unless you moved it).
  4. Import and run Android apps. (You’ll have to search the internet for Android apps you want to try. The file format is .apk, and many sites host them independently of the Android market.)

Update: for PC users make sure you have Java installed it doesn’t come preinstalled.

And thanks to Gizmodo for the top pic and the links for the downloads

Teamviewer review.

May 16th, 2010 yoshi No comments

Hey guys this is a app I just started using thanks to @creamers who showed it to me so i owe him a big thanks what the app is for is easy one time VNC from one computer to another or even from your iDevice to your mac or pc.

Whats great about it is it is totally free (except for the full version of the iDevice app which costs $99 but the free version works fine).

What I liked about teamviewer was it’s unique feature where your password changes right after use so you can let someone help you and after if they want to login again they’ll need you to give them the password, Another thing I liked about it is the easy setup which makes life easier if you’re trying to fix you’re grandmothers computer it’s easy enough to explain how to setup teamviewer so you can take control from there.

I added these pics so you can get a idea of what the iPhone app feels like:

Hope this post helped you if there’s anything you want to add comments are welcome, Also check out the rss feed on top so you can stay up to date on all you’re iDevice news right here @ iYoshiblog

Beware of cracked wifisync!!!

May 14th, 2010 yoshi 3 comments

Just saw this news as the story was unfolding, so I simply wanted to warn everyone right away, who might be tempted to download a cracked version of Wifi Sync, since it’s $9.99!! The developer who created the app warned that WiFi Sync has access to your iTunes Library. He also stated that the desktop helper you have to install could possibly recognize the cracked app and destroy your iTunes Library.  Here’s a tweet from the developer’s Twitter account, @WifISync.

“@TheTechReviewer I wouldn’t try a cracked version, if I were you. It knows. :)

Update: Just heard from @Team_iPhoneGuru that he used a cracked version (to test this myth for his loyal followers) and synced 5 times without any errors or deletion, so I’m guessing it was a bluff.

2nd Update: Bluff Confirmed, it is safe, although not recommended, to use a cracked version of Wifi Sync.  The developer confirmed this and apologized for scaring people (who rip him off) from his now unused Twitter account, @WifiSync:

“Again, sincere apologies for suggesting the app contains anti-piracy code – it doesn’t. But it may cause premature hair loss. Just sayin’.”

Where and How to learn Obj C.

May 11th, 2010 yoshi No comments

[ad#Google Adsense-1]
This is a post that i think is very useful for anyone who wants to start programing for the iPhone iPod touch and even the iPad.

First step: is simple you’ll have to get the iPhone SDK (Software Development Kit) to get that.

You’ll need a mac it’s free from developer.apple.com/iphone all you have to do is make a free account. (you can develop apps for iPhone on a pc using Dragon Fire SDK but that uses c++ and this post is about learning Obj C)

Next: look through all the tutorials listed here some might interest you more than others depending on your level in programming first i recommend you go to iTunes U there you have a list of a few colleges that have classes on Obj C the best one i found was from Stanford College which is named: iPhone Application Development,

There are loads of universities teaching iPhone App Development if you search in iTunes store “iPhone App” you’ll get a bunch, Harvard has a class that involves Obj C called Computer Science 50 (aka cs50) which can also be found in the iTunes store,

There are alot of Youtube tutorial also I’ve seen some nice ones by simplesdk, I recommend using these only if your not looking to learn Obj C, or only for a certain use, or if you have a good programming background.

Note: Also the reason i recommend using the iTunes U classes are because there done by Apple Co. so they show you all the things you’ll need to know for the SDK itself which is very important.

Hope this post helped you,

If you do make a app we’d love to review it so contact me or xsn0w,
